Performances are 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the First Presbyterian Church, Medford, and — p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, at the Southern Oregon University Music Recital Hall, Ashland. The concerts will feature two pieces chosen by the audience in a survey conducted last year and culminate with an alumni chorus joining the current members performing I Have Had Singing. 1986 Ellison Glattly, director of Choral Studies at SOSC and Brian Tingle formed Southern Oregon Repertory Singers after some planning meetings in 1985. Glattly had extensive experience singing with the — Roger Wagner Chorale and the William — Hall Chorale. The newly formed group of — 24 singers performed under the Glattly's direction on April 6. On Dec. 13, the 30-member group was asked to perform in a benefit concert for KSOR. The group was featured on the cover of the Mail Tribune's Tempo the week of Dec. 12-19. 1987 The group was invited to be the featured performers with the Rogue Valley Symphony in October, Arthur Shaw's first season with the symphony. Later that year, the group, now grown to 42 voices, again performed a benefit holiday concert for KSOR in December. 1988 The Repertory singers joined forces with the Northwest Bach Ensemble to perform three motets by J.S. Bach. The Repertory Singers rounded out their second full season with a performance of Mozart's Grand Mass in C Minor accompanied by a chamber orchestra and traveling for the first time to Grants Pass. The Repertory Singers will be performing the West Coast premiere of Mozart's Mass in a new performing edition by Robert Levin on May 6-7 on this year, 18 years to the day when they first performed this work. The Repertory Singers performed at the Britt Festival in August under the direction of James DePriest. 1989 The holiday concert in December of 1989 marked the departure of Ellison Glattly as conductor of the group. 1990 The singers were invited to join the Rogue Valley Symphony in performances of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and in this concert, Ellison performed as the bass soloist. 1991 The first concert under the direction of the group's new director Paul French was in February. Beginning in December, the Repertory Singers were again performing a full season of choral music as well as joining the Rogue Valley Symphony for larger choral works. 1993 In March, the group was invited to participate in the Seventh Season of the Northwest Bach Ensemble Concert Series. 1994 In March, the group was chosen to perform — at the Northwest Division convention of the American Choral Directors Association in Tacoma, Wash. The regular season continued including collaborations with the Northwest Bach Ensemble and the Rogue Valley Symphony. 1995-96 The season marked an expansion of the concert season with its first Mozart Birthday Bash commemorating the composer's 240th birthday. It also marked the return of Ellison Glattly as a member of the bass section. 1996-97 The season featured the first commissioned works of the Repertory Singers by soon-to-be composer-in-residence Craig Kingsbury, and the first appearance of pianist, Jodi O'Connell, soon-to-be Jodi French. The concert season was now set: Holiday Concert in December; Mozart Birthday Bash in January; and Spring Concert in May. 2000 The Repertory Singers released its first CD; a collection of Christmas Holiday Music entitled, In Time of Softest Snow. The singers continued their collaboration with The Rogue Valley Symphony. 2002 The Repertory Singers returned to Tacoma for an appearance at the American Choral Directors Convention in March and began its Education Outreach program, performing in area high schools. 2003 The Oregon Shakespeare Festival invited the singers to perform at the Elizabethan, initiating the yearly Songs of Shakespeare performance.
