I’ve had a medical marijuana card, and I’m looking for a part-time job. I just want a simple little job because I have fibromyalgia. I just want to smoke every now and then to help me relax and sleep. Now that marijuana is legal, can you still get a job without getting a pee test? — Betty S., Medford There have been many changes to marijuana laws, Betty. You can buy it legally for medical and for recreational purposes. You can grow your own plants in your backyard, and if a friend wants to give you some pot, you can readily take it. However, when it comes to employers, they can still require that you pass a drug test to be hired — or to keep your job in some circumstances — and that test can include marijuana. Marijuana will test positive on many drug tests for about 30 days after consumption. New tests are being developed that may determine if someone is currently intoxicated with marijuana.
