Semi carrying Teslas crashes in new rest area By Mail Tribune staff Dec 16, 2019 04:40 PM A A A semi truck carrying a load of Tesla vehicles crashed to a halt early Monday morning at the new Interstate 5 rest area south of Ashland, injuring the driver, authorities said. No one else was hurt in the 6 a.m. wreck, and no other vehicles were involved, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation. The truck was headed north on I-5 when it developed mechanical problems and entered the rest area, where it crashed through a perimeter fence, according to ODOT. The unidentified driver was taken to a Medford hospital for injuries, but no other information was immediately available. No buildings were damaged and the rest area was closed for several hours to remove the Teslas and the semi truck, according to ODOT. Misc emergency.jpg
