SOC boys basketball Crater remains perfect with win CENTRAL POINT -- Matt Brown had a game-high 21 points and Mike Jacobs recorded a double-double as Crater built a huge lead early in a 62-44 Southern Oregon Conference win over Ashland in boys basketball Friday. The Comets, who led 31-7 at halftime, share the conference lead at 4-0 with North Medford. Jacobs had 12 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots. "We got after them," Crater coach Matt Meunier said. "Defensively, we got into them and worked real hard, and we controlled the boards." Matt Harthun added 10 rebounds for the Comets as they outrebounded the Grizzlies, 36-17. Ashland was held to four points in the first period and three in the second, and only shot 24 percent (12-for-51) for the game. Chris Pavilionis scored 11 points for the Grizzlies. South junior wing Damian Rasmussen recorded a game-high 26 points. Grants Pass was paced by Reed Sorensen's 21 points and Peter Jordan added 14.
