RAIDER ROUNDUP Weber's fourth triple-double powers SOU men Comment By SOU Sports Information MailTribune.com By SOU Sports Information Posted Feb. 8, 2015 @ 2:00 am By SOU Sports Information Posted Feb. 8, 2015 @ 2:00 am » Social News OLYMPIA, Wash. — Tim Weber filled up the box score again Saturday night, recording his fourth triple-double of the season and breaking Southern Oregon University's single-season assist record in the process during an 83-71 win over Evergreen at CRC Gymnasium. Weber finished with 13 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds, bringing his total to 202 assists. Stacy Hilliard set the old program mark with 200 during the 1990-91 season. The 17th-ranked Raiders upped their record to 20-6 overall and 10-5 in the Cascade Conference. They've won at least 20 games in three consecutive seasons for the first time in program history. Eric Thompson led four Raiders in double figures with 21 points and eight rebounds, going 9-for-16 from the field and 3-for-6 from downtown. Freshman guards Kenny Meyer and Ben DeSaulnier had 14 and 10 points, respectively, and Jordan West went for 12 points and five rebounds. Evergreen (4-17, 1-13), which on Friday won its first conference game in upset fashion against Oregon Tech, got 23 points out of Jordan Dam, who did all of his damage in the second half. The Raiders, who also lost on Friday at Northwest, got off to a fast start and were up 29-15 after scoring 10 unanswered, including seven by Thompson. They led 38-19 at halftime and by as many as 23 in the second. SOU shot 55 percent (31-for-56) in the game and 15-for-25 in the second half. Joel Spear chipped in eight points, four assists and four rebounds. The Raiders swept the season series and have won eight straight against the Geoducks. They shot 73 percent in a 105-72 triumph on Jan. 9 in Ashland. SOU will visit New Hope Christian on Tuesday in nonleague play and on Saturday in Ashland will go for its eighth straight win over Oregon Tech. Women’s Basketball SOU 74, EVERGREEN 58: At Olympia, Wash., Southern Oregon took advantage of its edges in size and depth for the win. A night after going for 32 points and 10 rebounds, junior forward Carly Meister registered 20 and 11 for the 13th-ranked Raiders (21-3 overall, 12-3 Cascade Conference). Her counterpart inside, Alexi Smith, had 13 points and eight rebounds. The Geoducks (13-8, 7-7), who have played the latter part of the season with a six-woman roster, were led by Natasha Trinidad's 12 points and six rebounds. However, their three leading scorers on the season — LaNieci Weatherspoon, Uriah Thomas and Sadee Jones — combined to go 11-for-44 from the field. The Raiders held a 50-35 edge on the glass, turning 16 offensive rebounds — including five from Meister — into 16 second-chance points. They were up 33-21 at halftime and 57-33 midway through the second, trailing only in the opening minute of the game. A mini-run cut it to 12 points with a couple minutes left, butAshley Claussen’s 3-pointer stopped that. Claussen wound up with nine points, six assists and six rebounds. Tiani Bradford led the Raider bench with 11 points, four rebounds and three steals. SOU has won nine of its last 10, all of them by at least 10 points. SOU's first meeting with Evergreen resulted in a 77-56 victory in Ashland on Jan. 9. The Raiders will travel Tuesday to Eugene for a nonleague game against New Hope Christian before returning to Ashland and CCC play on Saturday against Oregon Tech.
