Jackson County at 338 deaths By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Nov 12, 2021 01:47 PM A A Local health officials reported one new coronavirus related death in Jackson County Friday, along with 43 new cases. The numbers bring the local COVID-19 death toll up to 338, and the latest local case log to 24,106 since the start of the pandemic, according to Jackson County Health and Human Services numbers. As of early Friday afternoon, neither the Oregon Health Authority nor Jackson County Public Health had released information about the latest local fatality, such as the patient’s age, when they first tested positive for the coronavirus or when they died. Neighboring Josephine County announced deaths of two residents Friday, both of whom died in August: a 70-year-old woman who tested positive July 18 and died Aug. 20 at her home, and an 86-year-old man who tested positive Aug. 12 and died Aug. 17 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center in Grants Pass. Each of the two Josephine County patients had underlying conditions that contributed to their deaths, and neither of the two patients were vaccinated for COVID-19, according to Josephine County Public Health release issued Friday.
