Letters to the Editor, Oct. 24 Monday Oct 24, 2016 at 12:01 AM Mrs. Clinton’s recession Indicators show the United States is faltering in every area of economic growth. Inventories are down. Producers’ prices are down. Retail sales have fallen. The Gross Domestic Product, the sum of all goods and services produced in a country, has been mostly below 2 percent for seven and a half years (3 to 4 percent is necessary for sustained growth). Trucking company shipments are down. Wages? Sluggish for the last decade. Middle-class income has flattened out. More people are out of work than when the current administration arrived, while the debt is multi-generational. Yet, Mrs. Clinton promises more of Obama’s failed policies! You can support the insanity of repeating the same actions while expecting different results or you can vote Trump’s economic recovery plan borrowed from JFK and Ronald Reagan. Why would you vote against multi-year economic-growth, more jobs and increased wages? Can we tax ourselves into prosperity? Really? How? Priscilla Vanderlip Medford Vote for Gordon I am voting for Dick Gordon for Medford City Council, Ward 1. This man goes way above and beyond the call of duty in his unpaid position. I had an incident between the city and myself regarding my property. I was advised to contact Dick Gordon since he is the councilor for my area. I was amazed at how quickly he came to survey the problem and how many hours he worked to help alleviate the situation. Dick Gordon really cares about what happens in the city and and I am impressed with his involvement and dedication. Vote for Dick Gordon and you will not be disappointed. He is a true servant to the people. Ila Bartels Medford Vote yes on 15-164 In early November we have the opportunity to put 15 historical societies and genealogical societies in Jackson County on the proper financial footing. These entities are working tirelessly to raise the funds to keep their doors and archives open to all of us, but are facing headwinds that can no longer be solved. The formation of the Rogue Valley Heritage District and passage of Measure 15-164 will restore and preserve our county’s priceless history for about $8 a year for the average household. Please vote yes in November. R. Turner Gold Hill Supporting Stromberg I am writing in support of John Stromberg for mayor of Ashland. I have lived here since 1977 and have never seen such an intelligent and committed mayor in all these years. He has taken this job as mayor very seriously and full-time. He even got $4 million  from the Forest Service to complete the Ashland Forest Resiliency Project, which protects the Ashland Watershed from forest fires, making Ashland a much safer place from wildfires. That is just one of the many issues he has spearheaded for this town. I am so grateful to him for his hard work for our community. I think we have been a lucky town to have such a devoted, smart man to be our mayor. Let's keep John Stromberg as our mayor! Vote Stromberg, it is really important. Juli Teitelbaum Ashland
