By Kris Henry of the Mail Tribune Aug 30, 2018 11:32 AM A A The Oklahoma City Thunder opted Thursday to use their waive and stretch provision on the final year of Kyle Singler's NBA contract, making him a free agent and saving the team about $20 million on its tax bill. The 2007 South Medford High graduate helped lead the Panthers to the state championship his senior year and went on to earn Most Outstanding Player honors as he propelled Duke to the 2010 national championship. The 6-foot-8 forward started his NBA career in 2012 as a member of the Detroit Pistons and was a second-team All-Rookie selection his first season before eventually being traded to Oklahoma City midway through the 2014-15 season.
