November 03. 2014 11:08AM Ashland's winter shelters need volunteers Ashland's network of interfaith winter homeless shelters needs volunteers and will hold an orientation and training session at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Calvin Hall of First Presbyterian Church of Ashland, 1615 Clark Ave. The seminar will provide background information for those who want more information before volunteering. It is not necessary for those who volunteered last year to attend.  Churches and city buildings stay open four nights a week to provide shelter for homeless people during the winter. The First Presbyterian Church of Ashland serves as an overnight shelter on Monday nights and the Trinity Episcopal Church offers overnight shelter on Wednesdays. The city's Pioneer Hall is open overnight Tuesday and Thursday. Volunteers to staff the shelters are needed from mid-November through mid-April.
