Key Hit Propels Cavs Over Raiders The Southern Oregon University softball team's postseason hopes dimmed with a 3-1 Cascade Conference loss to Concordia University in Ashland this afternoon. Senior outfielder Julie Hasenkamp's bases-loaded two-run single in the top of the seventh inning coupled with Tanya Wheeler's six-hit pitching performance allowed the Cavaliers (17-22, 7-8) to sweep a critical three-game weekend series. Southern Oregon (23-20, 5-10) must win at least two of four regular-season-ending games next weekend against league leader and 20th-ranked Oregon Tech to keep alive hopes for an NAIA regional tournament berth. Concordia, which went from last-place to second in the four-team league title chase with the sweep, tied the game in the fourth and set up Hasenkamp's heroics when former Crater High star Lindsie Luchau led off with a double followed two batters later by an RBI single by Alicia McConkey. The Raiders staked a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Ashland High grad Meagan Humann scored from second base on a two-out single by Stacey Marshall.
