For the second straight day, Sawyer was denied a championship by Catlin Gabel sophomore Jolee Van Lueven. Still, in the 1,500 meters, Sawyer set a personal record and broke her own school record by three-hundredths of a second with a time 4 minutes, 54.35 seconds. Van Lueven defeated the St. Mary’s senior in the 3,000 the day before and won the 1,500 in a time of 4:48.7. Advertisement "I finally had a season where I reached my potential," said Sawyer. "I don’t think I could have run the race any better. I was mentally strong and physically strong. It was one of the better races I’ve ever run." Sawyer and Van Lueven stayed off the fast early pace, but moved to the front with 600 meters to go. Van Lueven took control and Sawyer pulled away from any closers for second. St. Mary’s received a fourth place from sophomore Liz Tribelhorn in the 800, with a season-best time of 2:23.38, a seventh from John Wing in the shot put (43-6¼ ) and an eighth from Tim Kirkpatrick in the 100 (12.00). The Crusader girls 4x400 relay team, with Tribelhorn, Kayla Eichamer, Kara Schnoes and Melissa Anderson, ran a season-best 4:18.90 for fifth place. Junior Ben Kinney of Cascade Christian placed fifth in the 400 with a time of 51.82. Teams winners were Oakridge (58 points) in boys and Regis (53) in girls BOYS TEAM SCORES — 1, Oakridge 58; 2, Myrtle Point 54; 3, Reedsport 35; 4, Nyssa 34; 5, Salem Academy 31; 6, Scio 30; 7, Catlin Gabel 29; 8, Colton 24.50; 9, Oakland 24; 10, Culver 22.50; 11, Kennedy 21; 12, Bonanza; 20; 12, Willamina 20; 14, Regis 19; 14, Bandon 19; 14, Central Linn 19; 17, Waldport 17; 18, Sheridan 16; 19, Gervais 15; 19, Westside Christian 15; 21, Neah-Kah-Nie 13; 22, Lowell 11.50; 23, Joseph 11; 23, Corbett 11; 25, Weston-McEwen 10; 25, Chiloquin 10; 27, Harrisburg 9; 27, Portland Christian 9; 27, Pilot Rock 9; 30, St. Mary’s 8.50; 31, Elgin 6; 32, Gilchrist 5; 32, Portland Lutheran 5; 34, Cascade Christian 4; 34, Imbler 4; 36, Knappa 3; 36, Enterprise 3; 38, Glendale 2; 38, Pine Eagle 2; 40, Grant Union 1; 40, Pacific 1; 40, Umatilla 1; 40, Lost River 1 Saturday’s Finals 100 — 1, Joe Jones, Scio, 11.35. 2, Lee Clarkson, Salem Academy, 11.57. 3, Branden Bruce, Colton, 11.64. 4, Miles Lehto, Central Linn, 11.80. 5, Ryan McAlpin, Myrtle Point, 11.82. 6, Josh Henry, Gilchrist, 11.86. 7, Zach McDowell, Nyssa, 11.95. 8, Tim Kirkpatrick, St. Mary’s, 12.00. 200 — 1, Joe Jones, Scio, 22.52. 2, Nathan Baumgartner, Reedsport, 22.79. 3, Miles Lehto, Central Linn, 23.02. 4, Tony Peniche, Portland Luthera, 23.16. 5, Nick Riley, Reedsport, 23.23. 6, Epi Brito, Weston-McEwen, 23.38. 7, Josh Henry, Gilchrist, 23.41. 8, Scott Richards, Westside Christi, 23.65. 400 — 1, Nathan Baumgartner, Reedsport, 50.17. 2, Nate Lewis, Culver, 50.61. 3, Lee Gadberry, Sheridan, 50.79. 4, Matt Vetter, Gervais, 51.34. 5, Ben Kinney, Cascade Christia, 51.82. 6, Drew Fletcher, Catlin Gabel, 51.96. 7, Jake Jordan, Neah-Kah-Nie, 52.56. 8, Andrew Nieman, Neah-Kah-Nie, 53.52. 800 — 1, Andrew Perri, Oakridge, 1:56.47. 2, Steve Cooper, Myrtle Point, 1:57.90. 3, David Garcia, Chiloquin, 1:58.35. 4, Jed Moffitt, Oakridge, 2:00.73. 5, Matt Vetter, Gervais, 2:02.67. 6, Kris Hinojosa, Bandon, 2:03.11. 7, Alec Bromka, Catlin Gabel, 2:04.11. 8, Nathan Geith, Glendale, 2:06.35. 1500 — 1, Jed Moffitt, Oakridge, 4:06.75. 2, Alec Bromka, Catlin Gabel, 4:06.87. 3, Evan McNichols, Lowell, 4:07.50. 4, Zeger Snoeckx, Kennedy, 4:09.79. 5, David Garcia, Chiloquin, 4:13.90. 6, Austin Bowles, Oakridge, 4:14.78. 7, Stephen Campbell, Westside Christi, 4:15.04. 8, Michael Swart, Enterprise, 4:15.19. 9, Nathan Geith, Glendale, 4:15.99. 10, Kris Hinojosa, Bandon, 4:16.44. 11, Nick Jacobson, Knappa, 4:17.17. 12, John Bartell, Imbler, 4:20.10. 13, Pat Grainey, Blanchet School, 4:24.68. 14, Chase Moore, Oakland, 4:28.30. 15, Mike Allen, Knappa, 4:29.41. 16, Bobby Christensen, Pilot Rock, 4:29.87. 17, Patrick Dunagan, Wahtonka, 4:30.59. 110 Hurdles — 1, Josh Bennett, Bonanza, 15.14. 2, Lee Clarkson, Salem Academy, 15.38. 3, Jake Gould, Myrtle Point, 15.70. 4, Miles Lehto, Central Linn, 15.78. 5, Jake Buchanan, Portland Christi, 16.13. 6, Nick Harris, Corbett, 16.79. 7, Joe Altemus, Oakridge, 17.28. 8, Tony Culley, Pacific, 18.72. 300 Hurdles — 1, Branden Bruce, Colton, 39.29. 1, Lee Clarkson, Salem Academy, 39.29. 3, Josh Bennett, Bonanza, 40.71. 4, Jake Gould, Myrtle Point, 40.73. 5, Colin Culbreth, Imbler, 41.44. 6, Jake Buchanan, Portland Christi, 42.54. 7, Jake Jordan, Neah-Kah-Nie, 43.13. 8, Chris Wyland, Umatilla, 43.29. 4x100 Relay — 1, Reedsport, 44.31. 2, Catlin Gabel, 44.46. 3, Myrtle Point, 44.47. 4, 44.58. 5, Nyssa, 45.38. 6, Salem Academy, 45.47. 7, Portland Christian, 46.07. 8, Joseph, 46.20. 4x400 Relay — 1, Scio, 3:27.03. 2, Oakridge, 3:29.73. 3, Sheridan, 3:30.77. 4, Myrtle Point, 3:30.84. 5, Joseph, 3:31.08. 6, Reedsport, 3:34.18. 7, Catlin Gabel, 3:36.94. 8, Culver, 3:37.75.
