The city upgraded William Mott Memorial Park,  2190 Jeremy St.,  with a set of swings — Faith's favorite play feature — and named the playground after her shortly after her death. But there's no marker to greet children who play there, says Faith's grandmother, Jan Pearson of Central Point. “It warms my heart when I see little kids there playing on the swings," she says. "I feel kind of bad that there’s nothing there saying it's dedicated to her in her honor. So I threw together a quilt to see if maybe I could raise some money to get one done.” Pearson is selling tickets to a raffle for the quilt that will be held soon.  (C ontact Pearson on Facebook or call 541-512-1960 for tickets.) Faith’s mother, JoLayne, says the park was close enough to the Fulmers' house for Faith to enjoy, even during her illness. “She went there all of the time," JoLayne says. "When she was going through her treatment and we were home from Doernbecher (a children's hospital in Portland), it was close and she could go there just to get out of the house and get some fresh air. “We have pictures of her playing there, but her love was the swings. She loved them at school and always remarked about how she wished there were swings in 'her park.’ ” The park’s namesake, William Mott, was a close friend of Faith’s dad, Lou. Mott was a Central Point police officer who was killed in an off-duty crash in 2007.  “My husband requested the park be named after him (Mott) when he died,” JoLayne says. “Little did we know what was to come. Willie, of course, knew Faith. So the whole park is very close to our hearts for many reasons.” Armed with her quilt and grandmotherly persistence, Pearson is selling raffle tickets at Bobbio’s Pizza, 312 Oak St., Central Point, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday through Dec. 6. The restaurant also is offering eight $25 gift cards to be raffled along with the quilt and vouchers for Pearson to distribute. Bobbio's will donate 15 percent of any order placed when presented with the vouchers. Buffy Pollock is a freelance writer living in Medford.
