Juan Carlos Mena-Silva, 46, of the 8000 block of White City pleaded guilty Thursday to attempted first-degree assault with a firearm, recklessly endangering another person, delivery of methamphetamine and delivery of heroin. Jackson County Circuit Judge Lorenzo Mejia warned Mena-Silva not to try to come back after he is deported. "You shall not re-enter the United States because if you do, you'll do a lot of time in federal prison because of the nature of these convictions," Mejia said. Prosecutors say that on March 12, Mena-Silva was in a fight with other people at a house on Thorn Oak Drive in Medford when he retrieved a gun and shot out the window at a man and woman with whom he was fighting. The two fled as the gun was fired in their direction, witnesses told the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. A neighbor on the street later found a bullet hole at his residence. The Jackson County Sheriff's Office responded and found a bullet on the floor of the neighbor's garage, according to an affidavit. A deputy also found an empty bullet casing on the deck of the house where the fight had taken place. The deputy observed a clear line of sight from the house window where Mena-Silva fired the gun to the neighbor's garage diagonally across the street. In a separate case, the Medford Area Drug Gang Enforcement Team received information on Mena-Silva and found substantial quantities of methamphetamine and heroin after searching his person and vehicle, according to court testimony. Mena-Silva said he had been a hard-working person for the past 27 years but ran into financial difficulties while getting a divorce.
