Eagle Point senior Salina Sychla tallied 20 points, six rebounds and four assists as the Eagles (1-5) used a late rally to score a 44-38 home victory over Phoenix. "It’s nice to get the first one," said Kleker, whose prior experience as a coach had been as an assistant. "Some people say the first one’s the hardest (win) to get, but I’m just so proud of the kids because, step by step through the first six games, we’ve improved every night." Phoenix led by as many as seven in the first half and maintained a 30-28 advantage heading into the fourth quarter before the Eagles mounted a final surge. Sophomore post Melissa Lass scored all six of her points in the fourth quarter to help spark the comeback. Beth Logan added 10 points and eight rebounds, and Terrah Whipple had five assists, five rebounds and four points for EP.
