Jack Roy Graves Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Dec. 30, 2014 @ 2:00 am Posted Dec. 30, 2014 @ 2:00 am » Social News Jack Roy Graves, 83, passed away peacefully Friday, December 19, 2014, at his Medford home in the presence of his family. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. January 3, 2015 at Conger Morris Funeral Home in Central Point. Jack was born April 30, 1931, in Hubbard, Texas. His family moved to Lorena, Texas when he was 12. He enjoyed playing football in high school there. He joined the Air Force in 1951 and served for four years. He became a gunner/electrician in his service aboard a B36 Peacemaker long-range bomber, stationed in Rapid City, S.D. After an honorable discharge from the service, Jack began working at Convair in Fort Worth, Texas. He met his wife, Mary in Fort Worth in 1956, and they married April 20, 1957. They remained lovingly married for 57 years, until his death. In 1959, Jack and Mary relocated to Gold Hill, Ore. Moves to Phoenix, Rogue River, and Medford followed. They have three sons, John, Greg, and Todd. After moving to the Rogue Valley in 1959, Jack became a journeyman electrician. He traveled the west coast including California, Washington, Alaska, and Montana for work. He retired at the age of 71, with 41 years in the trade. The highlight of his career was when his youngest son, Todd became a journeyman electrician. They traveled in and out of state for several years, working side by side. Jack was an avid fan of football his whole life. He never missed a football game any of his sons played in. He was an Oregon Ducks fan and attended games for 20 years with his boys. Jack was preceded in death by an older brother, John Julius Graves, who died as an infant. He is survived by his wife, Mary; his sister, June Juergens; his sons, John, Greg, and Todd; and two grandsons, Jesse and Cameron Graves. Jack will be interred at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery on North Phoenix Road, where his mother and father rest.
