The Jackson County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as Meadow Boyd, a student at Rogue River Junior/Senior High School, according to a news release. Detectives said she had been waiting for the bus at the end of her driveway in the 5100 block, north of the town of Rogue River. Police believe she was struck sometime between 6:45 and 7:29 a.m., and that she was "struck by a vehicle part or by an item attached to or carried upon a vehicle," the release says. A passerby found Meadow on the side of the road at 7:29 a.m., called 911 and performed CPR until first responders arrived. Paramedics transported her to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled for today at the Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office. Police are still working to identify the driver, saying the person may not have been aware they struck someone. Motorists who traveled through the area during that time frame are asked to check their vehicles for damage and report any issues immediately. Police have received several tips and surveillance video from private systems between Rogue River and Wimer. Anyone with additional information is asked to call 541-776-7206. The case number is 17-22901. Jackson County Mental Health staff are providing grief counseling for Rogue River Junior/Senior High School students.
