"It's so hard for me to understand how students could have been cast aside in this decision," Rickert said. “I really do feel that any clear-thinking person will consider the students." The judge makes it clear that a clear-thinking person must consider “both” the educational environment and the civil rights of students and employees. Would a clear-thinking person have disciplined students for having signs in their back car windows or for posting facebook support for employees? Would a clear-thinking person have recommended that board members vote for the board resolutions that led to alleged civil rights violations? The May 2, 2012 School Board meeting resolutions that led to this lawsuit passed by a 3-2 vote. Three board members, Grissom, Dole and Olson, followed Rickert’s recommendation to vote for the resolutions. Board members Mannenbach and Bateman voted against and expressed concern about putting District 9 in legal jeopardy. Extreme staff turnover, a 56.1 percent graduation rate, hundreds of thousands in lawsuits. Clear-thinking taxpayers/voters may see a need for administrator and board member changes. Recently at a Medford School Board meeting, a book called "American Pageant" was introduced and voted on. It was accepted by the board on a 4-2 vote. Jeff Thomas, the chairman of the board, changed his vote and allowed imaginary history and political lies to enter the veins of the school system.Thomas ' vote was based on a lack of self study while depending upon the school staff and the propaganda of the publishers, who are more interested in selling entertaining books than making great citizens out of children. It is appalling to have statements about the Founders of our country used in a fictionally denigrating fashion, as well as making political statements out of tried and true history. How long must we "stand down" and allow this nonsense to be perpetrated on the minds of our impressionable, innocent children? This damage to our next generation goes on unnoticed by us, every day, year after year. These are the very same children who must eventually save Old Glory from total destruction. We must quickly clean up the Medford School board before they pour this new poison into our most valuable asset, our children! Cindy has represented District 6, and specifically the Gold Hill community, for the past 20 years. As a lifelong resident of Gold Hill and a product of District 6 schools, she understands and represents the values of our community. She understands the unique independence and pride we take in our schools, and has fought to protect those values when others have tried to take them away Cindy Tilley Case recognizes we are a diverse school district with different populations, from SamsValley, Central Point and Gold Hill. Each is unique, but together they form the heart of a very successful school system. Don't be fooled by those who want to make District 6 a cookie-cutter system in the mold of others. Vote for someone who knows our community.
