Patricia Ann Alexander, 70, of the 3500 block of Corey Road, Central Point, grabbed a loaded .38 special revolver and fired a shot into the ceiling of her living room July 17 of this year, according to police. When Alexander was questioned by a Jackson County sheriff's deputy after her arrest, she told the deputy she fired the gun because, "I wanted to shut him up," according to court documents. Alexander told the deputy that she never pointed the gun at her husband during the argument, but that she did intend to scare him. The report states that she made suicidal statements and pointed the weapon at her head at one point. She also told the deputy after her arrest that she was very emotionally upset and felt she had made a serious mistake firing the weapon. Up until her trial date Thursday morning, Anderson had faced a felony charge of unlawful use of a weapon, along with misdemeanor charges of menacing and recklessly endangering another person. A late plea agreement Thursday morning reduced the three charges to one misdemeanor charge of second-degree disorderly conduct. Alexander waived her right to a jury trial and pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor in front of Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Kelly Ravassipour. "What I can say is there's obviously more to this than what was presented to the court," Ravassipour said. Another stipulation in Alexander's probation is that there be no firearms in her home. Some firearms in the household had been removed since the altercation, and the defense said Alexander's husband is arranging to sell the remaining pistol.
