I've almost always supported the Republican Party. When I haven't, I've been sorry. Shameful case in point: Bill Clinton. In the last election, I voted for Romney, who presented himself as a fine, upstanding man. So presidential! (Look where that vote got us!) Because of his recent turn-tail speech betraying Donald Trump, I have lost all respect for Romney and his establishment buddies. I might not make the right decisions at times, but it's not their right to manipulate my choices. So, here we are in an Oregon sea of Democrats and my little vote sure won't go far. But, for them to try to deny me the right to vote for the person I want is wrong. Everyone of us is different, and as such, we should all have the right to vote for the candidate we believe in. It makes for a vibrant, creative USA. Keep out of my business, Republican establishment. I want to and will vote for Donald Trump. Judie Bunch Talent Court chaos I know two people, a male and a female, who combined have missed no less than about nine court appearances. Nine. Let that sink in. How much work goes into citing these people, dragging them to court, getting a court date again in the future, them not showing up, a warrant issued for failure to appear, them possibly going to jail only to get released, rinse and repeat? And do we expect different outcomes? Who exactly is "saving" money in this instance? Surely these two people, who by the way are indigent and not going to pay any fines — surely they're costing the courts and by extension me, a lot of money. Please do something! Steven Ryan Medford A turkey solution The Medford Police Department recently asked homeowners how should we rid ourselves of the turkeys. You can't shoot them in the city limits, and PETA would not like poisoning. Desperate, I found a solution adaptable from the downtown parking manual. Simply post "One Hour Nesting" signs throughout town, telling the recalcitrant birds they can no longer linger. Turkeys would pay a fine for the first offense, be pinioned for the second offense and be trans-located to a holding pen adjacent to Quality Market for the third offense. Tim Johnson Medford Dad was right After reading the never-ending series of articles about marijuana's legalization and the impact on our county, my dad's words echo in my ears: "There is a reason they call it 'dope,' son. Because it turns you into one." From people who burn their houses extracting THC, down to North Medford students who are oblivious to its harmful effects on their still-developing brains, it is clear that my very wise father was right. Tracy Van Hee Eagle Point A Trump scenario If you support Donald Trump for president, consider this scenario: Trump is elected president. A few months later, Kim Jong Un launches a nuclear missile test. Asked by the press to comment, Trump calls Jong Un "a loser with performance issues." The next morning, a North Korean sub off the coast of California launches a nuke at Los Angeles. There are worse things than a liberal in the Oval Office.
