Basketball SOUTHERN OREGON CAMP — Southern Oregon University Basketball coach Brian McDermott’s boys basketball camp will be held at Ashland Middle School June 6-10. For players grades 3-8. Cost is $100 per camper and $80 for a second family member. Call coach McDermott at 552-8554 or 482- 4302. Duathlon EVANS VALLEY EVENT — June 14 at 8 a.m. at Rogue River Middle School. Entry fees: individual with no T-shirt is $15; team with no shirts $20 per team; shirts are $8 per person; and day-of-race registration an additional $5 per person. Proceeds go to Cascade Christian High cross country program. Event consists of 5K run, 30K bike and another 5K run. Multiple divisions available. Season is April 26-May 31 and costs $15 for YMCA members, $30 for non-members. Call Wes Towne or David Douglas at 772-6295. Golf UNITED WAY/UPS TEAM CHALLENGE — June 7, Stone Ridge Golf Course. Format is four-person scramble. Cost is $90 per person or $360 per team. Registration is under way. Shotgun start at 9 a.m. Contact: United Way, 773-5339. ROD RUMREY TOURNAMENT — May 18, Cedar Links Golf Course. Tournament honoring former North Medford football coach Rod Rumrey’s retirement. Format is four-man scramble. Cost is $55, which includes barbecue to follow 1 p.m. tee time. Call Brent Barry at 941 9889 or Mike Kay at 842-3666. HELMET TOURNAMENT — The Helmets’ open tournament May 17 at Cedar Links. Former players, opponents, friends and families welcome. Format is four-man scramble. Cost is $50 and includes green fees, cart and barbecue. Call Jay Klemp at 664-5324. YFC/LITHIA MOTORS CHALLENGE — May 17, StoneRidge Golf Club. Double shotgun start at 7 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Format is four-person scramble with a $95 entry fee. Benefits the programs of Rogue Valley Youth for Christ/Campus Life. Call 779-3275. STEWART MEADOWS MEN’S CLUB — Tournament will be Saturday, May 3, 2003 at the Stewart Meadows Golf Course. The format is Member/Guest two-man team. Guest must have handicap. Nine holes best ball, Nine hole scramble (all net). Ice Skating THE RRRINK LEARN-TO-SKATE PROGRAM — Lessons offered for ages 3 through adult. $70 for six-week session ages 6-adult; $50 for six-week session ages 3-5. Six-week sessions include six half-hour group lessons, 15 minutes of practice prior to each lesson and free admission to one public session on day of class. Call Tami Kuechel at 770-1177. Running BRIDGE RUN — Five-mile run and two-mile walk, May 3 at the Grants Pass Family YMCA beginning at 8 a.m. Pre-registration prior to April 20 is $14 with T-shirt or $6 without shirt. Softball MEN’S SLOW-PITCH TOURNAMENT — The 20th annual Bear Creek Lock, Safe & Alarm tourney will be held April 26-27 and May 3-4 at the SOU softball complex in Ashland. SENIORS SLOWPITCH TRYOUTS — To be eligible, men must reach their 50th birthday and women their 45th during 2003. Tryouts Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday at noon.
