Behind Barry, the Black Tornado won the Intermountain Conference-Southern Oregon Conference Challenge with an even-par 288 for its four players. Roseburg and Summit tied with 293 team scores, and South Medford turned in a solid 297 for fourth place. "That’s the lowest team score North Medford has had for a number of years," said Black Tornado coach Kevin Klabunde. "There were ideal scoring conditions, no wind and nice and dry." Barry shot 32 on both the front and back sides, finishing his sterling round with a pair of birdies. He had eight birdies and 10 pars on the day and needed only 25 putts. "You’re going to putt well to shoot 64," said Klabunde. Advertisement Barry has focused on his putting of late and had a couple of strong outings prior to Tuesday. He shot 72 at Eagle Point last week and turned in a practice round of 67 Monday at Rogue Valley Country Club despite playing on greens that had recently been aerated, said Klabunde. North’s lineup had three freshmen in it, and one of them, Christian Bernard, came in with a 71 despite three three-putt greens. South Medford’s Nick Nieto tied Summit’s Trevor Doi for second place at 69. Nieto also toured the front nine in 32.
