James Collier funds elevator at the Holly Theatre Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Feb. 24, 2016 at 11:48 AM Posted Feb. 24, 2016 at 11:48 AM » Social News A six-figure gift by Medford philanthropist James Collier will pay for an elevator at the historic Holly Theatre, which is undergoing renovations. Officials with Jefferson Live!, which is managing the restoration, declined to disclose the amount but said it is the largest single gift to the project to date. Only the Medford Urban Renewal Agency, which provided $300,000 in two separate grants, has given more, a release today said. The $4.3 million reconstruction of the interior of the Holly is scheduled to wrap up in late 2017. Jefferson Live! is affiliated with the JPR Foundation, which purchased the 1930s theater in 2011. Collier has been a longtime supporter of the arts. His name appears on the Camelot Theatre’s new James Morrison Collier Theater Building in Talent and on the marquee of the newly rechristened Collier Center for the Performing Arts at the Craterian Theatre in Medford. He is also responsible for the creation of the Brava! Opera Center’s James M. Collier Young Artist Program. He frequently underwrites programs at Britt Festivals, Rogue Valley Symphony, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon, Rogue Valley Chorale, Southern Oregon Repertory Singers, the Siskiyou Violins and many others.
