Newsom, who will defend his Medford city championship this week at Cedar Links Golf Course, shot a 4-over-par 220 for 54 holes. His final round was 73. Clark finished with a 75 and was 8 over for the tournament. Others who made the cut to the final day and finished in the top 41 were: Grants Pass’ Ryan Defenbach (225), Erik Hill (226) and Ryan Schaefer (230) and Medford’s Bret Breeze (232) and Noah Horstman (232). In the senior division, Grants Pass’ Dave Wittkopf tied for eighth at 227 and Terry Faulkner was 16th at 233. Advertisement Jim Douglas used a 7-wood to notch a hole-in-one on the 190-yard seventh hole at the Oak Knoll Golf Course in Ashland on Aug. 20. The shot was witnessed by David Ostan, Jack Brawner and Warren Moser. Running Central Point’s Joe Griffin finished 56th out of 112 competitors overall and ninth in his age group at the Pikes Peak Marathon in Pikes Peak National Forest, Colo., on Sunday. Griffin, who runs for the Southern Oregon Sizzlers, finished with a time of 5:15.29 in the age 40-44 division. The run started at an elevation of 6,295 feet and climbs to 14,110 at the summit.
