Mail Tribune News - Flood potential warning issued

Flood potential warning issued ASHLAND -- With higher than normal water runoff expected this spring, city officials are warning residents to pay attention to potential flooding near their homes. Homeowners in areas of high groundwater should check for damp spots in the ground, divert any standing water and make sure their sump pumps are working. Those who live near creeks should make sure water flows away from their homes. During storms, sand and sandbags will be available at the city's B Street Yard at B Street and Mountain Avenue. Reeder Reservoir, which houses the city's water supply, may not be able to hold all the runoff from large storms this spring. That, combined with an above-average snowpack, has led to expectations of heavy runoff. Mail Tribune Copyright The Mail Tribune 1999, Medford, Oregon USA
