Ashland debate team wins title Ashland High School�s speech and debate team won the team sweepstakes title for the 10th consecutive year in national speech and debate qualifying Friday at Southern Oregon University. Ashland High School placed first in the event, Willamette High School, from Eugene, placed second and Roseburg High School placed third. Seventeen schools from around the state participated in the two-day event. Five Ashland High students and one Eagle Point High student qualified to participate in the national finals, June 10-15 at the University of Oklahoma. First- and second-place finishers qualify for the national competition. The following students are advancing to the national tournament: Rex Reichenshammer and Andy Howe, Ashland � first place, duo interpretation. Luke Schreiber and Jackson Myers, Ashland � second place, duo interpretation. Caitlin Sanford, Ashland � first place, original oratory. Andy Howe, Ashland � second place, humorous interpretation.
