Raider matmen flatten Pacific for sixth straight win Jan 28, 2006 12:00 AM A A Raider Roundup FOREST GROVE ' The Southern Oregon University wrestling team won its sixth consecutive dual match and continued its domination of in-state rival Pacific University with a 37-7 triumph Friday. The eighth-ranked NAIA Raiders improved to 12-3 on the season and captured their ninth straight over the NCAA Division III Boxers (4-10). SOU, which won eight of 10 bouts, leads the all-time series, 39-5. The romp contained two pins (by Trevor Lofstedt at 125 and Joey Jannsen at 149), a technical fall by Rick Story at 184 and a forfeit to Taylor Wilkerson at 285. Lofstedt moved to No. 2 on the school's single-season pin list when he stuck Ryan Kuroda in just 1:53. Top-ranked Jimmy Grochowsky won career bout No. 96 and upped his season mark to 28-5 with a 14-4 major decision over Marshall Cook in the 165-pound match. — Southern Oregon returns to action next weekend with duals at Montana State-Northern and third-ranked Great Falls, Mont. Women's Basketball WARNER PACIFIC 68, SOUTHERN OREGON 45 ' At Ashland, Southern Oregon scored only six points over the first 14 minutes to allow 24th-ranked Warner Pacific College to pull away at McNeal Pavilion on Friday. After staking a 19-13 lead through the opening 13 minutes of the contest, the eighth-place Raiders (10-13, 3-10 CC) went ice-cold, and the first-place Knights (15-5, 10-1) took advantage. The Portland school used a 13-2 run to take the lead for good shortly before halftime, and it extended a 26-23 advantage with a 15-0 spurt to begin the second stanza. SOU missed its first seven shots of the second half and finished a miserable 13-for-52 from the floor (25 percent). Junior forward Andi Peterson led all players with 18 points, while sophomore forward Emily Brough hauled in a game-best 11 boards. Warner Pacific received 12 points each from senior guard Angie Sun and freshman post Danica Wilson.
