At about 9:30 p.m. Oct. 10, the victim parked her car at Bank of America, 790 Stevens St., and walked to the ATM machine. After her withdrawal, she returned to her car and closed the door. She noticed a vehicle stop directly behind her and watched a man exit the passenger side of the vehicle, walk toward her and pull what appeared to be a mask over his face. The suspect then opened her door, bent over and told her to give him the money. The suspect then fled back to his vehicle and left, according to police. The suspect was described as being a white male adult, more than 6 feet tall, big and burly, wearing an over-sized brown jacket, gloves and a mask. The suspect vehicle was a grayish blue four- door, possibly a Toyota Camry or similar vehicle, with unknown license plate. Area law enforcement and Crime Stoppers want to remind residents to be cautious and alert when using an ATM machine: Advertisement Watch for suspicious people or vehicles in the area. Use a well-lighted, open, high-traffic ATM machine. Have your card ready and leave quickly; don’t count your money in the open. Try to limit your use to daylight hours, or take someone with you after hours. Continue to scan the area while you are doing your transaction. Leave the area if you don’t feel comfortable, even if you need to leave your card in the machine. Don’t argue or fight with a robber. Call the police immediately. If you see have any information about the robbery, call Crime Stoppers of Southern Oregon at 800-3-DETECT (800-333-8328) and refer to case No. MT-85.
