Our beloved son, father, brother, and friend was 37 years young. Jacob was born May 29, 1979 in Grants Pass, Ore. to Bob and Carolyn Crews. He graduated from North Medford High School in 1998. He was a lifelong resident of the Rogue Valley. Like his father, Jacob’s employment surrounded lumber. He started his career in 1998 at Budget Lumber. In May 2002, Jacob started his own company American Lumber in White City, Ore. American Lumber started as a small specialty lumber yard and grew into the success that Jacob had always envisioned. From an early age, Jacob was always active in outdoor pursuits. His golf game was epic during his playing days at the Rogue Valley Country Club. His hole-in-one during Thursdays’ Men’s League cost him heavily but was worth every penny. Every year he looked forward to hunting season, no matter what the game. Jacob's favorite hunts were for elk with his family and friends. Fishing for salmon and steelhead on the Rogue and Elk Rivers always brought a smile to his face and he was crafty with a fishing pole in his hand. Jacob's best friend for 37 years was his older brother, Josh. He loved his children, nieces, and nephews with all his heart. Jacob was always involved in whatever activity his children were in. From teaching Cole to ride a bike in the street to Macayla’s volleyball, gymnastics, or 4-H projects. Macayla just finished raising her first lamb in 4-H and Jacob could not be more proud of his little “Macie.” Jacob was as big as a bear with a soft heart and a kind soul. People were drawn to him because of his kindness to all. Everybody Jacob knows loved him like a brother. He exuded an aura of kindness that drew people close and he welcomed them into his life. If Jacob considered you a friend, you knew you were loved. Jacob is survived by his children, Macayla and Cole Crews; their mother and the love of his life for 20 years, Darcy Crews; brother, Josh and Kristina Crews, and their children, Hunter and Hailey; his sister, Winter Nichols, her husband, Michael, and their children, Dublin, Piper, and Mycah; and his loving parents, Bob and Carolyn Crews. His extend family and friends are too numerous to name but will carry him fondly in their hearts. We are so thankful for having him in our lives for 37 short years. Jacob’s physical presence will be missed but his spirit will be with us forever. A memorial service is scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church 600 Beebe Road, Central Point, Ore. 97502.
