The body of 38-year-old Daniel Allred was found Thursday, and an autopsy on Saturday confirmed suspicions it was the missing man, according to a news release from the Josephine County Sheriff's Office. Deputy Cory Krauss, the sheriff's search and rescue coordinator, said Allred had been missing since Dec. 28, when he walked away from an adult foster care facility near Beecher and Placer roads. A search at that time using dogs proved unsuccessful, and deputies suspended further efforts because of Allred's history of walking away from the foster care facility. That history included an incident in October, when Allred had to be coaxed from the woods after he was found trying to hitchhike on Interstate 5. On Thursday morning, a Sunny Valley resident reported locating a body in Grave Creek. Members of the Search and Rescue Team recovered the body, which was turned over to the state medical examiner.
