COURTS Second suspect charged in February arson in Medford Comment By Thomas Moriarty Mail Tribune MailTribune.com By Thomas Moriarty Mail Tribune Posted May. 29, 2015 at 3:07 PM By Thomas Moriarty Mail Tribune Posted May. 29, 2015 at 3:07 PM » Social News A second suspect has been charged with arson in connection with a fire at a Medford mobile home in February. Stephen Everett Reid, 34, was arraigned today in Jackson County Circuit Court on a charge of first-degree arson stemming from a May 26 indictment. He'd been held in the Multnomah County Jail since May 21 on a Medford Police Department warrant in connection with a Feb. 15 fire in the 1400 block of Thomas Road. Firefighters said they found burning liquid on the home's porch and a gasoline can nearby, and police said they believed the fire had been intentionally set. Anthony Garrison, 41, who was arrested in April, has also been charged with first-degree arson in connection with the fire. According to an affidavit by an MPD detective, police learned that that Garrison and Reid had been at the home to purchase marijuana. Reid allegedly told a witness that he had started the fire, the affidavit said. Reid had previously been arrested in November 2014 when Medford Drug and Gang Enforcement investigators served a search warrant at his father's home in the 1100 block of South Holly Street. Detectives said they found a functioning methamphetamine lab inside the house and arrested Reid on a probation violation and his father, 54-year-old Stephen Robert Lyon, on charges of manufacture and possession of meth. Reid also has a previous felony conviction in Jackson County for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, court records show. Reid is being held on $1 million bail and Garrison's bail is set at $500,000, jail records show. First-degree arson is a Class A felony carrying a mandatory minimum sentence of 7½ years in prison under Measure 11 guidelines.
