Sophomore Kiana Oshiro and junior Daniele Giles will each be returning to state competition after placing second and fourth, respectively. Oshiro shot a final-round 80 and finished with a two-day score of 150. Giles’ 78 on Day 2 put her at 154. The top four teams and top 10 individuals qualified for state May 18-19 at Trysting Golf Club in Corvallis. Crater’s team placed fifth, six shots behind Pendleton. Summit breezed to the team title with a 655, and the Storm’s Madison Odiorne was medalist with a 144, including a final-round 71. Oshiro, who was runner-up for North Medford in the 6A state tournament last year before transferring to Crater, led by three strokes entering Friday’s play. After opening with pars on the first two holes, she went double bogey, triple bogey, double bogey to knock her back. Giles was 17th in the 6A tourney last year for the Comets. She played the front side in even-par 36 but had a triple and a double bogey down the stretch. DISTRICT 4 REGIONAL: St. Mary’s Kamryn Ford qualified for the Class 4A/3A/2A/1A state tournament by placing third with a 169 score in the regional at Centennial Golf Club Friday. Ford followed an opening round 83 on Thursday with an 86. The top two teams and top five individuals advanced to state May 18-19 at Eagle Crest Resort in Redmond. Ford shot nines of 44 and 42 on Day 2, her back side highlight a birdie 3 at the 13th hole. Henley and North Valley claimed the top two team places, and Henley’s Katie Collom was medalist and player of the year. She had a two-day 149. The top five players made the first all-district team, and the next five made up the second team. Kynan Nordal of Illinois Valley joined Ford as a state qualifier not on a qualifying team. She placed fifth. OVERALL TEAM SCORES: Henley 715, North Valley 832, North Bend 939, St. Mary’s 949, Hidden Valley 965, Sutherlin 1,091.
