Crater edges Grants Pass track CENTRAL POINT � The Crater Comets pulled out a 72-71 Southern Oregon Conference girls dual track and field victory Tuesday, winning the final event at Dutch Meyer Field. The foursome of Kala Bernhart, Jessica Stover, Sam Kezer and Megan Confer won the 4 x 400-meter relay in 4 minutes, 28.38 seconds � more than 10 seconds faster than Grants Pass. Erin Kinney cleared 5 feet, 2 inches in the high jumped and tacked on a 18.90 victory in the 100 hurdles. Carissa Nafie, Erin Chase and Confer were double winners as the Comets won 12 of 17 events. Grants Pass won the boys competition, 88-57, claiming nine events. Boys Golf NORTH WINS SOC FOUR-WAY � At Rogue Valley Country Club, the Black Tornado�s No. 1 team posted a low score of 323 to win the SOC golf event over teams from Crater, Ashland and Eagle Point. Ashland�s No. 1 team took second with a combined score of 335, with the No. 2 Grizzly team finishing third (344). North Medford�s Adam Huycke took home medalist honors with a score of 74, edging teammate Adam Browne by one stroke.
