COLLEGE FOOTBALL Beavers' Andersen hires offensive coaches Comment By Corvallis Gazette-Times MailTribune.com By Corvallis Gazette-Times Posted Dec. 28, 2014 @ 6:48 pm By Corvallis Gazette-Times Posted Dec. 28, 2014 @ 6:48 pm » Social News CORVALLIS — Dave Baldwin and Kevin McGiven will be joining Gary Andersen's coaching staff at Oregon State. Andersen announced Sunday that Baldwin will be the offensive coordinator and Kevin McGiven will be the quarterbacks coach. Baldwin arrives from Colorado State, where he was named the interim coach Dec. 4 before leading the Rams in the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl. CSU won nine straight games during the 2014 season and was ranked in the Associated Press Top 25. CSU played in two bowl games during his three-year stint as offensive coordinator, and over the last two seasons the Rams compiled an 18-9 mark. Baldwin has extensive coaching experience and was nominated the last two years for the Broyles Award, recognizing the nation’s top assistant coach. The Granada Hills, Calif., native spent the last 13 seasons as an offensive coordinator, which includes stints at Cincinnati, Baylor, Michigan State, New Mexico and Utah State, where he worked for then Aggies head coach Gary Andersen. Baldwin has also served as a head coach for a total of 10 seasons at San Jose State, Cal State Northridge, Santa Rosa Junior College and Santa Barbara Junior College. While at Utah State, Baldwin was named the 2011 Western Athletic Conference offensive coordinator of the year. The Aggies were one of the most explosive teams in the country, breaking the school record for total offense twice. Baldwin is a 1978 graduate of Cal State Northridge and earned his master’s from St. Mary’s in 1986. McGiven spent the last two years as Utah State’s offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach and was first associated with Andersen at USU in 2009 as the assistant head/quarterbacks coach. McGiven was selected as the FootballScoop 2014 quarterbacks coach of the year after he worked with four different starting signal-callers due to injuries. USU set numerous offensive school records during the last two seasons under McGiven. McGiven coached at Montana State in 2012 as the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach and led the Bobcats to the Big Sky Conference title. In addition, he has served in various offensive coaching capacities at Memphis, Weber State, Southern Utah, BYU, Louisiana Tech and Mountain View High School in Utah. McGiven is a 2001 graduate of Utah Valley and earned his master’s from BYU in 2005. “Dave and Kevin bring experience and continuity to our staff and offense,” Andersen said. “I know what to expect from these two as coaches and what to expect from our offense. They absolutely fit our program and Oregon State University, and this is another great step for our future.” By Corvallis Gazette-Times MailTribune.com By Corvallis Gazette-Times Posted Dec. 28, 2014 @ 6:48 pm » Comment or view comments Reader Reaction » STAY INFORMED Email NewsLetter Sign Up Today Sign up for our newsletter and have the top headlines from your community delivered right to your inbox. fantasy football Fantasy Football Daily League Guide to Wild Card Sunday Jan. 3, 2015 at 7:15 am Potseason Superlatives for Fantasy Season Jan. 2, 2015 at 11:07 am Stat Predictions for Fantasy Stars in Cards vs. Panthers Jan. 2, 2015 at 9:00 am Stat Predictions for Fantasy Stars in Ravens-Steelers Jan. 2, 2015 at 9:00 am Studs, Duds for Fantasy Football in Playoffs Jan. 2, 2015 at 8:00 am Daily Fantasy League Guide to Playoff Saturday Jan. 2, 2015 at 7:53 am calendar Connect with MailTribune.com Facebook Twitter RSS Back to top Reader Services Reader Services Home Subscriptions Subscriber controls Contact us Submissions Photos Events Letters to the editor Corrections Announcements Obituaries Story ideas Since you asked Alerts Email Alerts RSS Feeds Text Alerts Advertise Media Kit Home Products and services Ad rates Advertising contacts Mail Tribune Daily Tidings The Nickel Shop Our Valley Blogs Stay Informed Email newsletter Sign Up Today Sign up for our newsletter and have the top headlines from your community delivered right to your inbox.
