Are they planning an expansion of the acreage planted? — Greg A., Medford Like children, vineyard expansions are apparently meant to be seen but not heard. But the cat's now out of the bag on what amounts to a 50 percent expansion of one the area's largest vineyards. Del Rio spokeswoman Lindsey Zagar said Del Rio Vineyard is indeed expanding its plantings, adding just over 100 acres of grapes. "The details are still all coming together as to what varietals will be planted, but we are excited about the growth," she said. When the project is completed, Del Rio will have between 305 and 350 acres, up from the present 205. Del Rio is just west of Gold Hill, not far from the banks of the Rogue River.
