Police were serving a search warrant at an apartment on that street between 10th and 11th streets. The raid ended in the arrest of 29-year-old Jameson Brandt Vischer on charges of forgery and methamphetamine possession. Two more arrests in the case were made later in the day at a different location. Those suspects were identified by police as Tyson Timothy Richardson and Alecia Nicole Edmonson, both 26-year-old Grants Pass residents. "We've been working a case recently with counterfeit money, and the raid this morning was kind of a culmination of that investigation," Grants Pass police Lt. Todd Moran said. Police brought out their military surplus, mine-resistant, ambush-protected vehicle (MRAP) and a team of armed officers because of Vischer's criminal history, which includes drug- and gun-related convictions in Josephine and Jackson counties dating back to 2004. "That's why residents saw the SWAT response this morning," Moran explained. Grants Pass police acquired the MRAP vehicle last year at no charge through a federal military surplus program. Thursday's events began around 9 a.m. when officers headed to L Street and immediately arrested Vischer, who was sitting outside in a pickup truck, Moran said. He was taken into custody without incident. They then searched the apartment and seized evidence. Moran said the investigation began on Tuesday when a River City Grill employee reported receiving a $100 bill that appeared to be fake. One of the suspects snatched the bill from the employee's hand and fled before police arrived. Moran said the investigation is ongoing, and that he couldn't release more details. Vischer's extensive criminal history includes convictions for methamphetamine possession, giving false information to an officer and carrying a concealed weapon. In 2009, he was sentenced to more than two years in prison after being convicted of delivering methamphetamine and being a felon in possession of a firearm. On Monday, he got a 10-day jail sentence after pleading guilty to meth possession, reckless endangerment and menacing constituting domestic violence for an incident in April in which police said he blocked his wife's car with his truck and broke out one of her car windows to try to pull her out of the vehicle. A probable-cause statement filed with the court indicated that two young children were in the car at the time. Vischer has been booked into jail on charges of forgery and meth possession, and Richardson and Edmonson — who were arrested in the 200 block of Southwest Lewis Avenue — are both being held on a single forgery charge.
