Motorcyclist dies after colliding with deer near Prospect

Local report Oregon State Police reported a Canadian man died Monday morning when his motorcycle struck a deer on Highway 62 near Prospect. Troopers and emergency personnel, who responded at about 10 a.m. Monday, said an investigation revealed that a Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by Gary Yarmie, 37, of Oshawa, Ottawa, Canada, was traveling north on the highway with 18 other riders when a deer ran into their group. The deer collided with Yarmie’s motorcycle, causing him to lose control and leave the highway. Yarmie’s motorcycle collided with a tree and he suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Highway 62 at the scene was reduced to single lane of travel for about 4?½ hours. OSP was assisted by the Oregon Department of Transportation.
