Ashland moving water discharge to Bear Creek Wednesday Jan 31, 2018 at 12:20 PM Jan 31, 2018 at 12:20 PM The point where the city of Ashland's Wastewater Treatment Plant discharges treated wastewater is being relocated from Ashland Creek to Bear Creek. Phase one of the project starts today and will take until Wednesday, Feb. 6, according to a news release. The new discharge will be about 65 feet downstream from where Ashland Creek flows into Bear Creek. Phase one includes construction design and field data collection along the Bear Creek Greenway, meaning path users could see contractor staff and drilling rigs collecting data on the stretch of trail between the plant and the bridge over Bear Creek. Trail disruptions are expected to last for two or three days within the week-long window, though the trail will remain open for the duration. Barricades will be placed on the trail, and bicyclists will be asked to walk their bicycles for about a quarter mile for safety reasons. Construction of the new pipeline is planned for summer 2019.
