Leroy, a 5-foot-9 junior wing, saved the best for last as he picked up all of his 14 points in the final quarter. "I challenged the kids with about seven minutes to go and down by 10," said Henley coach Jess Schefstrom. "I saw a spark in Scott’s eye and thought, ‘Well there’s one kid that doesn’t want to lose.’" The Hornets (6-3 Skyline) held a 33-26 lead at halftime only to see the Pirates outscore them 23-11 in the third quarter. "We came out tentative at the start of the game," said Phoenix coach Kevin Dixon. "We made some adjustments at halftime, were strong in the third, but I think we used so much energy trying to come back we just ran out of gas in the fourth quarter." Brett Ellis led Phoenix (8-1 Skyline) with 20 points, including four 3-pointers, and Brady Rhodes had 13 rebounds. Henley’s Dan Martin led all scorers with 21 points. Hesia, who has 1,525 career points, broke Travis Olson’s record of 1,506. Third-ranked Mazama (15-4, 8-1 Skyline) moved into a first-place tie with Phoenix.
