The Knights (5-4, 5-1 Skyline) receive a first-round bye in the Class 3A state playoffs. North Valley will host the Coquille-Sherwood winner in the second round of the playoffs. North Valley junior quarterback Josh Makepeace was 6-for-10 passing for 111 yards and two touchdowns. North Valley outgained Rogue River 182-74 on the ground. Mitchell Reagles threw for 125 yards for Rogue River, which finished the season at 5-4, 3-3 in the Skyline. The Pirates (7-2, 4-2 Skyline) will advance to the state playoffs as the conference’s No. 2 seed. They will host the No. 3 team from the Tri Valley League in the opening round next Friday or Saturday. Henley quarterback Bryn Card threw for five touchdowns on 35-of-53 passing for 382 yards. After Phoenix took a 29-24 lead on Tyler Hammon’s third touchdown of the game with about four minutes left, Card directed the winning drive that culminated on a 27-yard scoring pass to Jesse Brewster The Hornets (3-5, 2-4 Skyline) sealed the victory with a fourth-down interception with 1:14 remaining. Sam Dollarhide rushed for 172 yards before suffering a leg injury in the third quarter. The junior was taken to Three Rivers Hospital in Grants Pass for X-rays. Sophomore Matt Stewart filled in for the Mustangs (6-3), rushing for two touchdowns and 87 yards. Sean Reed scored the lone touchdown for Del Norte of Crescent City, Calif. Hidden Valley will face Capital Conference runner-up Stayton in the first round of the state playoffs either Friday or Saturday. Jared Caulfield was 5-for-13 passing for 87 yards and one touchdown for the Vikings, who outgained Illinois Valley (0-8, 0-6 Skyline) 367-232. The Cougars attempted only two passes, completing one for 5 yards, and Adam Miller and Ian Moore combined for 181 yards rushing. The Loggers (1-6 Skyline A) rushed for 315 yards out of their single-wing offense. Ross gained 171 yards on 24 carries and ran in a pair of two-point conversions. Butte Falls junior Chris Stephenson rushed for two touchdowns and picked up 139 yards on the ground. Junior wingback Brandon Zartman scored on a 55-yard pass reception from Ross and a 5-yard run. The Loggers’ running offense was keyed by the play of senior linemen Gary Moody, Nick Owen and Jim McClanahan and sophomore Michael McLauchlan. Prospect scored in the second quarter on a 5-yard pass from Brandon Bailey to Danny Boyd. The game was tied 8-all at halftime. The Cougars (0-8, 0-7 Sky A) were limited to 92 yards rushing and 75 passing. Bailey rushed for 78 yards and was 6 of 13 passing for 65 yards.
