Advertisement Seriously, Murray, here's the 100 percent real deal: In 1998 the Medford City Council granted a request by Sabroso Co. to vacate a 750-foot section of Grape Street to allow the company to expand its fruit processing operation. In 2001, the city built a 300-foot-long road that connects Grape and Fir streets, called 13th Street, to give drivers a route around the manufacturing complex. A $330,000 grant from the Oregon Department of Transportation paid for the road work. That portion of Grape Street now belongs to Sabroso. The company got the land for free because land vacated by the city reverts to owners of the parcels from which it was taken — in this case, Sabroso. Sabroso Co. produces fruit purees, puree concentrates and juice concentrates. The purees are used in baby food, fruit nectars and juices, as well as other foods.
