Police plan presence at lake on Fourth People planning to party at Diamond Lake on the Fourth of July should be aware: Plenty of law enforcement officials will be patrolling the area. After what police describe as a large group of unruly, intoxicated juveniles descended on the lake last year, patrols will increase this year, police say. "We had so many complaints, we're just going to make sure it doesn't happen this year," said Douglas County sheriff's Sgt. John Stall. Stall said that last year, he and another deputy were on patrol, as were six to eight law enforcement officers from the U.S. Forest Service. This year, Stall said they're aiming for 50 uniformed officers to patrol the area the entire holiday weekend. The sheriff's office will join forces with the Forest Service and the Oregon State Police to provide coverage 24 hours a day, the whole weekend. A mounted posse also will be brought in. Some areas will be designated as off-limits to alcohol, Stall said, and people entering the campground will be given fliers telling them what the rules are.
