Raider wrestlers win fifth straight Jan 21, 2006 12:00 AM A A Raider Roundup SAN FRANCISCO ' One night after extending its consecutive winning season streak to 36, the Southern Oregon University wrestling team notched its fifth straight dual triumph by clobbering San Francisco State University, 29-7, Friday. The NAIA eighth-ranked Raiders (11-3) improved to 15-4 all-time against the NCAA Div. II Gators (0-6) by capturing eight of the 10 bouts, highlighted by senior Rick Story's 19-3 technical fall over Richard Escobar at 184 pounds. Sixth-ranked Story improved to 23-5 with the win, while top-rated Jimmy Grochowsky upped his team-leading season mark to 27-5 with a 4-2 decision over Will Simmons in the 165-pound tilt. Eighth-ranked freshman Trevor Lofstedt earned his 20th collegiate win with a 7-0 blanking of Brian Watanabe at 125, and sophomore Taylor Wilkerson (15-14) earned his sixth win over the past seven outings in the heavyweight clash. Men's Basketball SOUTHERN OREGON 75, NORTHWEST 57 ' At Kirkland, Wash., sixth-ranked Southern Oregon missed only nine shots in the second half of the Cascade Conference game. The defending league champion Raiders (19-3, 8-2 Cascade) won their third straight contest, remained tied atop the standings with third-ranked Oregon Tech and snapped the Eagles' five-game win streak. Senior wing RaShawn McAllister had a career night for the Raiders, scoring 26 points. Women's Basketball NORTHWEST 70, SOUTHERN OREGON 58 ' At Kirkland, Wash., Northwest University used a 44-30 rebound advantage against short-handed Southern Oregon. The Raiders had just eight players available because of six suspensions for violating team rules. Cassie Snyder led the Eagles (9-13, 5-5 Cascade) with 15 points, six rebounds and four assists. Southern Oregon (9-12, 2-8 Cascade) was paced by Andi Peterson's game high 21 points and six rebounds.
