World Food Day events are Saturday ASHLAND -- World Food Day will be celebrated locally with a potluck, a prayer circle, speakers and a service award ceremony Saturday at Town Hall, 300 N. Pioneer St. "Youth Against Hunger" is the theme of this year's United Nations World Food Day, designed to call attention to efforts to end the hunger of more than 1 billion young people between the ages of 15 and 24. The local event is sponsored by World Mouth Educational Services and Ashland Community Food Store. It is free and open to the public. The celebration will begin with a prayer circle at 11 a.m. Information booths will be open from noon to 5 p.m. inside Town Hall. An International Potluck Celebration is scheduled for 6 p.m., followed by a keynote address by John Easterling, founder of Amazon Herbs, at 8 p.m. World Mouth Educational Services will present its annual World Food Day Awards to activists working to improve nutrition and eliminate hunger.
