The 9 mm Smith & Wesson semi-automatic pistol found that police found stashed in the console of Lucian Moon Patchell’s 1992 Cadillac sedan was one of the weapons stolen during the break-in at Southern Oregon Pawn, 1234 Court St., Medford, police said. The pistol, along with some jewelry found on Patchell’s belt, were confirmed as items stolen from the pawn shop, Medford police Lt. Mike Moran said. "But there’s still five more weapons out there," Moran said. Medford police responded at 2:17 a.m. to a burglary alarm at the pawn shop, where an unknown number of burglars crawled from the roof through a heating duct and into the shop’s retail area, Moran said. Advertisement The burglar or burglars escaped with the Smith & Wesson pistol as well as five Glock pistols, Moran said. At 1:24 a.m. Monday, officer Damien Cromwell spied the blue four-door Cadillac weaving at Third Street and Central Avenue and pulled over the car, Moran said. Cromwell found a nervous and fidgety Patchell, who had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court to face a charge of unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, Moran said. Officers removed Patchell from the car and a search revealed the loaded pistol under the console. When Cromwell found the loaded weapon, it was pointed in her direction, Moran said. Officers also found a small amount of methamphetamine in Patchell’s pocket, police said. Patchell, 29, who told police he lives in a residence on the 2700 block of Canterbury Lane in Medford, was taken into custody on charges of first-degree theft, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of amphetamines, Moran said. Patchell was lodged Monday in the Jackson County Jail, where he was being held Monday without bail. The burglary remained under investigation Monday, and burglary charges could be added later against Patchell, Moran said.
