The results, however, were a little more one-sided than usual as the Comets cruised to a 56-15 victory over the rival Eagles. “It was a great atmosphere,” said Crater head coach Greg Haga. “We had a great crowd and we had a bunch of alumni there. It was a real good evening and a great night for wrestling.” Crater sophomore Logan Meek highlighted the effort for the Comets, who were coming off a team victory at the Battle of the Border this past weekend. Meek, who was named most outstanding wrestler at the tourney, bumped up a weight class to 160 pounds and scored a 20-7 major decision win over Eagle Point’s Bryan O’Neil, who placed fourth at last year’s state meet. “Logan did a great job in that match against a tough kid,” said Haga. “He tried to go for the turn at the end to get the tech fall but he couldn’t quite get it.” Other key wins for Crater included a 13-5 major decision by Bryce Cwiklinski at 126 and a pin at 138 by Collin James in a match against Dalton James that was back-and-forth until ultimately decided in 2 minutes, 33 seconds. Also registering pins for the Comets were Jace Godley (170), Tommy Winningham (182), Cavin Gillispie (195), Beau Crawford (220) and Javon Gill (285). For Eagle Point, Thomas Zomerdyk won by fall in the third period at 120 and Michael Hammond scored a first-period pin at 145. At 132, Jamie DeLaCruz scored an 8-4 decision over Dallas Howard to round out the Eagles’ scoring. Trevor Haugen recorded 14 points and four assists and Josiah Cunningham seven rebounds for the Red Tail Hawks (2-2), who trailed 21-8 at halftime. Girls Basketball RV ADVENTIST 43, NEW HOPE CHRISTIAN 19 : Rose Tovar turned in 19 points and eight rebounds for Rogue Valley Adventist during nonleague play. Savannah Zamora had 12 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals and Ashton Petray three points, six rebounds and four assists for the Red Tail Hawks (3-1), who led 21-9 at halftime.
