The Rev. Scott Dalgarno will officiate. Private interment will be inScenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland. Mr. Merriman, 86, of Ashland, died Thursday (May 3, 2001) at hishome. Memorial contributions may be made to the First PresbyterianChurch, P.O. Box 626, Ashland, OR 97520. He was a descendant of an early Rogue Valley pioneer family. Hisgreat grandfather, William H. Merriman came West with the Isaac Constant wagon train in 1853, and settled nearCentral Point. Mr. Merriman was born March 4, 1915, on a small ranch on TrailCreek, a son of William and Alma L. (Martin) Merriman. His family moved to Clarks Fork, Wyo., in 1921,returning to the Rogue Valley in 1923. While growing up, he lived in Trail, Union Creek, Prospect and ButteFalls, graduating from Butte Falls High School in 1932. From 1933 to 1937, he held various jobs in Oregon andCalifornia, including logger, mill worker, ranch hand, dairyman, painter, miner and machinist. In 1937, hebegan work as a fire lookout at Burnt Peak Lookout, a job he held during summers while attending SouthernOregon Normal School (now Southern Oregon University). On June 4, 1940, in Ashland, on the same day hegraduated from Southern Oregon Normal School, he married Esther Carter, who survives. Mr. Merriman began teaching in 1940 at Prospect Elementary School.In 1948, he was hired as principal of Elk Trail School. He received his master's degree from the University ofOregon in 1955, and in 1956 was hired as principal of Lone Pine School in Medford, where he worked untilretiring in 1975. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Mr. Merriman was a Boy Scout leader, 4-H leader, and Hunter SafetyEducation leader. He was a member of the Cascade Masonic Lodge No. 208, Phi Delta Kappa, was a life member ofthe National Education Association and Parents Teachers Association, Bellview Grange and the FirstPresbyterian Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing cross-country skiing and traveling,and had traveled to New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii, England and Scotland. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Lynn C.and Dan H., both Ashland, and Vance H., Bend; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He was precededin death by two brothers, Ray and Guy. Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory,Ashland. The memorial service for Grace E. Ridge Campbell will be at 1:30p.m. Wednesday at Trail Christian Fellowship in Eagle Point. Pastor James W. Gardener will officiate.Inurnment will be in McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock, Ill., at a later date. Mrs. Campbell, 91, of Medford, died April 14, 2001, atHearthstone. She was born July 16, 1909, in Boston. She was adopted by FlorenceM.E. Ridge, a missionary to Guatemala and Mexico, and enjoyed music, painting and poetry as a youth. Shegraduated from the University of Redlands when she was 20, and taught school prior to her marriage. On June22, 1938, in Pomona, Calif., she married Ralph Edward Campbell, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Campbell was very involved in her children's education. Shealso tutored special needs students. She was an active member of the First Methodist Church of CrystalLake for 50 years, serving at times as choir director and soloist. She and her husband were both avid readersand members of the Great Books Club for many years. Mrs. Campbell enjoyed listening to sacred music as well as operaand other classical works. She also enjoyed nature and walking up until her 91st birthday. Survivors include two sons, Russell W., Medford, and CharlesEdward, Berkeley, Calif.; a daughter, Jeannette M. Campbell, Pasadena, Calif.; and four grandchildren. Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives and Crematory.E. Merle Blair The funeral service for E. Merle Blair will be at 2 p.m. Monday atMemory Gardens Mortuary, Medford. Chaplain John Braund of Rogue Valley Hospice will officiate. The gravesideservice will follow in Memory Gardens Memorial Park. Mr. Blair, 78, of Medford, died Thursday (May 3, 2001) at hishome. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rogue Valley MedicalCenter Foundation, Hospice, 2600 Siskiyou Blvd., Suite 100, Medford, OR 97504. He was born Dec. 10, 1922, in Barry, Ill., a son of John and Inez(Hull) Blair. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1940 from Phoenix, Ariz., and graduated from Medford High Schoolin 1941. On Feb. 15, 1947, in Medford, he married Dorothy H. Jones, who survives. Mr. Blair was part-owner and operator of Greatway Properties, LLCof Eagle Point. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Blair was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Eagles Lodge,both in Medford. He enjoyed bowling, golf and traveling to Reno. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Johnny L.,Central Point; a daughter, Karen Kay Blair, Medford; two brothers, David, Hubbard, and Paul, Anchorage,Alaska; a sister, Imogene Jean Muchmore, Mesa, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and fivegreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford. L.A. 'Jack' Domis The memorial service for L.A. Jack Domis will be at 11a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Medford. The Rev. John Braund of Rogue Valley Hospice and theRev. Joyce DeGraaff of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Mr. Domis, 76, of Central Point, died Thursday (May 3, 2001) athis home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rogue Valley MedicalCenter Foundation, Hospice, 2600 Siskiyou Blvd., Suite 100, Medford, OR 97504, or the First PresbyterianChurch, 85 S. Holly St., Medford, OR 97501. He was born Leighton A. Domis on Dec. 26, 1924, in Chicago. OnAug. 30, 1962, in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, West Indies, he married Vickie Jonker, who survives. Mr. Domis worked for American Pipe (Ameron) in Los Angeles as aproject manager for 34 years. In Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, West Indies, he worked as a constructionsuperintendent for Lockjoint American. After returning to the states in 1968, he moved to Medford and workedfor Tompkins-Johnson Co. in White City and Jackson, Mich. for 18 years as national sales manager and plantmanager. He retired in 1986. During World War II, he served three years as a gunner in the ArmyAir Corps in the Pacific. Mr. Domis was a member of the Central Point Rotary. He enjoyed traveling. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, J, EaglePoint, and Randy, Minot, N.D.; a daughter, Dee Dee Mains, Clovis, Calif.; a sister, LaVerne Gohr,Jacksonville; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother. Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation and Funeral Care, CentralPoint. Lee Roy Jones Lee Roy Jones, 64, of Medford, died Friday (May 4, 2001) at hishome. Arrangements will be announced by Abbey Funeral, Medford. Ted Arthur Roadman Services for Ted Arthur Roadman will be held Wednesday at Wilson'sChapel of the Roses in Roseburg, with internment at the Roseburg Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow atthe Roseburg First Christian Church. Mr. Roadman, 89, passed away Friday (May 4, 2001) at FarmingtonSquare, a local care facility in Medford. Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Community HealthFoundation, Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504; or to the Shriners Children's Hospital, 3101W.S. Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97201. Ted was born Jan. 31, 1912, in Roseburg, to Arthur and Rosella(Price) Roadman. He attended the day school in Umpqua through eighth grade and went on to graduate fromSutherlin High School. He enrolled at the University of Oregon, graduating with a degree in business. Ted married Kathryn Hennigh on Sept. 3, 1937. He worked for UnionOil Co. until he moved out to the farm in Umpqua when his father's health failed. Ted loved to hunt and fish. He was very active in the OaklandMasonic Lodge, where he was a past master and a 50-year member. He was a member of Scottish Rite in Roseburg,the York Rite bodies and the Hillah Shrine Temple. He was also a member of the Oakland chapter of the Order ofEastern Star, where he was a past patron and 50-year member. He went on to attain the position of past grandpatron of the Grand Chapter of Oregon in 1969. He and Kathryn spent much time traveling and belonged to theNational Camping Travelers, a Masonic camping group, and the Sojourners Christian Camping group. In lateryears, he and Kathryn spent many winters in Arizona and had several trips touring the country, includingvisits to Alaska. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nelda Sonneborn. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, SharonMalley, Portland, and Joanne Clark, Port Gamble, Wash.; two sons, David, Medford and Ken, Bend; sevengrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Vera Christensen Memorial services for Vera Christensen will be held Monday at 3:30p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Medford. The Rev. Alan Jackson of Westminster Presbyterian Churchwill officiate. Mrs. Christensen, 88, of Medford, died Friday (May 4, 2001) at herhome. Vera Means was born Sept. 25, 1912, in Carthage, S.D., to Aura andLoren Means. On Aug. 9, 1936, she married H.D. Chris Christensen in Yankton, S.D. Mrs. Christensen graduated from Yankton College in Yankton, S.D.She was a teacher and a partner with her husband in Nu-Way Cleaners. She was tutor and president of theLaubach Literary program, a 50-year member and past president of PEO, a past president of American FieldService and a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Christensen is survived by a son, Dan Christensen, Eugene;two daughters, Judy Manley, Belvedere, Calif., and Jill Andrews, Walnut Creek, Calif.; a brother, GeorgeMeans, Yankton, S.D.; a sister, Vivian Williams, Redding, Calif.; four grandchildren; and fourgreat-grandchildren. Mrs. Christensen was preceded in death by her husband of 43 yearsand a brother, Mike Means. Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home of Medford. Marjorie B. Nunley Funeral services for Marjorie B. Va.She lived in the Rogue Valley since 1950, after moving from Montana. She attended Illinois State Teacher's College, Business School inMilwaukee, Wis. Prior to 1950, Mrs. Nunley was secretary for the Alumni ResearchFoundation, University of Wisconsin; the Veteran's Administration Regional Headquarters; U.S. Forest Service;and the American Red Cross in Missoula, Mont. Mrs. Nunley was an active member of the Lutheran Church MissouriSynod all her life, and St. Peter Lutheran Church at the time of her death. After coming to Medford, she wasfull-time wife, mother and homemaker. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, David L.Nunley, Chico, and James T. Nunley, Pleasanton, Calif.; five daughters, Elizabeth Branam, Big Fork, Mont.,Krista Codington, Grants Pass, Ellen Demarest, Corvallis, Kathryn Carlson, Corvallis, and Sharman Johnson,Medford; and 22 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Brett Frederick Nunley. Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford. Irene Ernestine Buck The memorial service for Irene Ernestine Buck will be held todayat 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville. The Rev. Roger Hill will officiate. Inurnment will beheld at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Mrs. Buck, 80, of Medford, died Thursday (May 3, 2001) atHearthstone. She was born Irene Ernestine Miller on May 1, 1921, in Russell,N.D., a daughter of Frederick and Edna Miller. On Oct. 31, 1941, in Great Falls, Mont., she married Harold L.Buck, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1983. Mrs. Buck was a member of the Lutheran Church in California. Sheenjoyed homemaking, crafts and painting. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, StellaCordes, Medford; a son, Bruce Buck, Lancaster, Calif.; a brother, Raymond Miller, Deering, N.D.; six sisters,Doris Mueller and Helen Borgan, Minot, N.D., Viola Gabriel, Spokane, Betty Hansen, Granville, N.D., EileenZick, Durango, N.D., Carol Norsby, Sequim, Wash.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Scott Cordes. Arrangements: Abbey Funeral.
