What are the plans for the sign? -- Lisa M., Medford It's a cutting-edge concept in advertising: leave the message to your imagination. No, but seriously, change is afoot for the giant sign. Jason Federico, vice president of Applegate Restaurants which does business with Burger King (he doesn't own the nearby franchise), purchased a sign permit for it. He said he's in the process of figuring out what to do with it: he may lease out the advertising space, he may advertise Burger King on the sign, or he may find a new home for it. "We'd ideally like to move it," he said. "I'd like to move it out toward the freeway." The sign is on the McDonald's restaurant property. Kim's restaurant on Highway 99 closed in 2005, and the off-premise advertising of the restaurant remained until it was painted over recently. Kim's was established in 1950 by Henry and Betty Fong, Hang "Papa" Lee and Sun Noon Moon "Mama" Lee, and Canton and Gene Lee Sheu. The families' children took over the restaurant and eventually closed the doors in 2005 and the property is still on the market. The asking price for the 24,126-square-foot restaurant on 3.83 acres is $4.75 million.
