Three businesses sign with Medford Center By Shari Downhill Cardinal Employment Services, Mongolian Barbecue and an unnamed coffeehouse are the latest businesses to move into the Medford Center, bringing retail space to a premium. The Tinseltown shopping center is now at just over 90 percent capacity, said Medford Center Manager Paul Farmer. Out of 424,717 square feet available, 387,559 square feet are under lease. Cardinal Employment Services , located at 703 Medford Center, opened its doors Monday. The new location marks the seventh store for the Coos Bay-based employment agency. Cardinal Employment manager Ron Wanichek said the location was chosen based on its close proximity to 24 Hour Fitness and the ease of accessibility for employees. Formerly of Labor Ready, Wanichek said Cardinal Employment Services benefits both employers and employees. Cardinal�s employee leasing program benefits employers who don�t want the headache, liability and legality of employees, Wanichek said. Employees benefit from Cardinal�s brokered job placement and also have access to health and retirement benefits they may not have had before. Mongolian Barbecue has started construction at 979 Medford Center, the former location of Green�s Sewing & Vacuum Center. The Mongolian Barbecue will offer customers a buffet-type food bar including meats, vegetables and sauces that are chosen by the customer, taken to a large grill and cooked in front of the diners. The restaurant is scheduled to open Feb. 27. Owner Cody Do is relocating to the Rogue Valley from Idaho, where he has operated two other Mongolian Barbecue restaurants. "Traditional coffeehouse." Farmer said a traditional coffeehouse is scheduled to open March 1 just north of the Tinseltown entrance. Although the specific schedule is not yet set, business owners have signed a lease and are currently drawing up plans for the shop. Medford Center�s commercial lease broker, Bill Leever of Pulver and Leever Real Estate Co., negotiated the three new business leases, Farmer said.
