Game 3 of the series is at 6:35 tonight. The Rogues (13-19) then open a three-game homestand against Kitsap on Thursday. Victoria (16-16) broke the game open in the second inning against Medford starter Gabe Genter with RBI hits by P.J. Floyd and Chris Fougner and a two-run double by Chase Lambert. Medford cut into its deficit with single runs in the second and third inning but couldn’t quite get its offense going overall against Victoria starter Matt Blais and reliever Tei Vanderford. The Rogues left eight men on base despite nine hits overall. Consecutive singles by Tony Roque, T.K. McWhertor and Nathan Etheridge led to Medford’s first run in the second inning. In the third, Derron Davis and Billy Fredrick led off the frame with singles and Stefan Panayiotou followed with a one-out RBI double. McWhertor and Etheridge paced the Rogues with two hits apiece, while Lambert was 2-for-5 with three RBIs and A.J. Alcantara went 3-for-3 with one run for Victoria. Ben Polshuk smacked a two-run home run in the ninth inning for the HarbourCats. Medford reliever Kade Wagner allowed four hits and one run with two walks and two strikeouts in 5⅓ innings of work after coming on for Genter in the second inning. American Legion AAA MEDFORD 10, FAIRFIELD 0: Medford only had five triples on the season heading into the nonleague game but used one apiece from Tate Cowden, Micah Brown and Bryce Rogan to romp past Fairfield at Harry & David FIeld. Rogan finished with three RBIs, highlighted by his two-run triple in the third inning that helped the Mustangs (27-10) take an early 6-0 advantage. Cowden finished 2-for-4 with two runs, and Brown also struck out two batters in the seventh. Austin Zavala went 3-for-3 with one run and two RBIs, Jared Evans was 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI and Eric Carlson 2-for-4 with one RBI to pace Medford’s 15-hit attack. Colton Westfall picked up the win with three strikeouts and no walks in a predetermined rotation that saw the Mustangs utilize four pitchers overall as a warmup for today’s key Area 4 doubleheader at Eugene. Medford and the Challengers each are tied atop the league with 8-2 records. Cole Carder threw out a runner at the plate to end the first inning, when Fairfield managed three of its seven hits. Steen Fredrickson and Greyson Wolff also contributed to the shutout on the mound.
