BASEBALL ROUNDUP Wilson pitches Rogues past Chico, 5-2 Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Jun. 19, 2016 at 12:01 AM Posted Jun. 19, 2016 at 12:01 AM » Social News The Medford Rogues got back on the winning track Saturday with a 5-2 Great West League baseball victory over Chico, Calif., at Harry & David Field. The second-place Rogues, coming off a lopsided loss Wednesday to GWL-leader Marysville, got a complete-game pitching effort from D.J. Wilson to improve to 7-3. Chico, in third place, dropped to 5-8. The two teams complete their three-game series with a doubleheader today beginning at 4 p.m. The first of two seven-inning games is a makeup for a rainout on Friday. On Saturday, Medford scored three runs in the third inning to take a 4-0 lead, then kept control behind Wilson (3-0), who became the third Rogues pitcher to go the distance this season. The right-hander allowed five hits, struck out five and walked two. Both runs he allowed were earned. Offensively, Derron Davis was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs to pace the Rogues' nine-hit attack. Cam Russ was also 2-for-4 with an RBI. Chad Bell drove in two runs. Davis got Medford started in the first inning with a leadoff double, eventually scoring on a Bell fielder's choice. In the Rogues' third, Brock Pradere opened with a single, then stole second base. Davis scored him with a single. Connor McNally's double put runners at third and second, and Bell followed with a single to bring in Davis. McNally scored on the play when center fielder Miles Bice committed an error. Medford's other run came in the eighth, when Russ singled in pinch runner Johnny Delacruz. Cameron Olson doubled in both Chico's runs in the fourth inning.
